Society for Learning in Retirement
Now in it's 28th year, SLR brings together retired and semi-retired persons in the Central Okanagan and beyond, to share the camaraderie of learning regardless of their formal education.
Peer teaching and learning are at the heart of SLR programs. While study group leaders may not always be experts, they share what they know and invite class members to do the same. Classes are small and offer a fun learning environment.
Classes are offered in person and online, each session typically lasting two hours with a break for refreshments. There are no exams and classrooms are equipped with air filtration systems for improved air quality and state of the art presentation equipment. Membership and class fees are affordable.
We serve a variety of members and value inclusivity and diversity. Members include veterans, indigenous peoples, seniors with diverse abilities, racialized people, members of LGBTQ+ communities, low-income seniors and newcomer groups.
