Workshop April 2008
SLR RECORDER ORCHESTRA NEWS
In July 2007, over half the Orchestra attended the Port Townsend Early Music Workshop in Washington USA where they experienced an enjoyable and instructive week of recorder playing and immersion into the world of the Renaissance.
Also in July the Pipers visited Bruce's place and played outside overlooking Okanagan Lake. We had a barbecue before raiding his cherry orchard. In April 2008 in Kelowna we enjoyed a weekend recorder workshop led by Vicki Boeckman who has performed on recorder in Europe and North America, assisted by Darlene Franz from Seattle
In August 2008 a sextet from members of the orchestra acquired the use of a houseboat and performed Handel's Water Music and other selections as we traveled the shoreline of the Lake. We stopped at the Fintry Queen to serenade a group of "Red Hat" ladies on board and ended the trip with lunch at the Yacht Club.
